From the President

In 1968, my mother founded Family & Nursing Care to find dedicated help for those who wish to remain independent, but cannot do so without assistance.  Since then, our family has helped thousands of families in the Washington metropolitan area maintain a balanced lifestyle and have peace of mind by offering quality in-home care and a service you can depend on. 

Over the years, the needs of our clients have changed, becoming more complex.  With hospital patients being discharged “sicker and quicker,” the need for a more clinical approach to home care has emerged.  While Family & Nursing Care has always adopted the philosophy of “Consumer Directed Care,” Legacy Home Care approaches home care with an “Agency Directed” approach.

As you read through our web site, you will notice how seriously we take the process of hiring only the best Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in the industry.  However, we are just as concerned with the art of matching individual caregivers with the specific needs of our clients.  We strive to not only make sure our caregivers can provide the highest quality care, but also that they are compassionate, reliable, effective communicators, and genuinely interested in helping people.
